October 2019 - PK 4

This will be a very exciting month! We will be learning about the ocean. Oceans occupy 71% of our Planet and its water contains salt and other minerals. Bacterias and sun light helped create the first sea creatures. The Ocean has many types of animals which are group by their characteristics: invertebrates which have no bones, echinoderms which have spines, mollusk which has soft tissue and can live in any water temperature, vertebrates which have bones. In the Ocean we can also find jellyfish which is an invertebrate gelatinous animal shaped as an umbrella. Crustaceans are invertebrates who have a hard shell.

We will understand that it is important to keep our oceans clean and protected otherwise these wonderful animals can die! What an incredible underwater world!

In Art, we will learn a great technique: Composition. We will understand how to properly work in a format and different positions of an image.


Rhyme of the Month

Five cranky crabs were digging on the shore.

One swam into a net and then there were four.

Four cranky crabs were floating in the sea.

One got tangled up in seaweed then there were three.

Three cranky crabs were wondering what to do.

One dug a deep, deep hole. Then there were two.

Two cranky crabs were warming in the sun.

One got scooped up in a cup. Then there was one.

One cranky crab was smarter than his friends.

He hid between the jagged rocks.

That's how the story ends.


Song of the Month

I asked my friends, the dolphins, what each of us could do 

To help them survive another million years or two.

And the dolphins said:

Pick your trash up off the beach. 

Recycle your plastic bags.

I asked the fascinating sharks what each of us could do

To help them survive another million years or two.

And the pointy snouted blue and the hammerhead too said:

"You know what to do, you know what to do.

"Imagine," said the sea turtle, "That you're as hungry as can be."

Well a plastic bag floating by looks a lot like a sea jelly." 

(And sea turtles love sea jellies!)

"But swallowing a plastic bag would be the end of me.

So please keep all kinds of plastic out of the sea."

"Keep...it...clean...please!"

1 - 12

FAMILY ART PROJECT

Each family must create a long blue strand approximately 3 meters long. You can make it with recycle material such as plastics, necklaces, fabric, straws, cables, e.t.c…. We will be creating our ocean with this and hanging it in a very special place. Be creative!

Thursday

We need one parent volunteer to bring some seaweed salad or nori, or any kind of seaweed. If its complicated a bag of spinach will be ok!

ANUAL FAMILY PICNIC

Come spend a Saturday with us full of families and fun! We will love to see you there!

Monday

We need one parent volunteer to bring one raw octopus (you can buy it in the seafood section of the supermarket), we will explore their tentacles, it will be so fun!.

Tuesday

We need one parent volunteer to bring 9 cooked clams in their shell (you can buy it in the seafood section of the supermarket), we are talking about mollusks.

We need a parent volunteer to bring a big Tupperware of jello (No flavor with less water so its harder)

We need one parent volunteer to bring us a whole crab (you can buy it in the seafood section of the supermarket) . We are learning about creatures with shells.

We need a parent volunteer to bring 3 cooked chicken legs

Let’s walk to Aguamarina!

We will be meeting at the metro station of Polanco at 8:30 and will be walking to Aguamarina to make our way safer! Together we can!

Make sure to bring all your trash, clean and divided. Read carefully the materials accepted to no generate trash

Children will go to each classroom asking for treats and showing off their costumes! - Children only. No candy will be given by Aguamarina

TEACHER TRAINING DAY

Teachers will be training their brains! If you want to bring your child please reserve your place no later than 5 days before. The cost is $375 from 8:45 to 1:10pm.
